So, why are we doing this?
As you know, Apple and Android are always updating their code and infrastructure that runs in the background of their mobile devices. Which is great because it fixes bugs, introduces new features, and allows for greater security. But because of these needed changes, there are parts of the older SkyBell HD (Legacy) App that is no longer supported.
Our engineering, development, and operations team reviewed what it would take to make the changes needed on the old SkyBell HD (Legacy) app and quickly realized that the code itself could not support what we needed it to do. Let alone the fact that the HD app could not keep up with newer mobile devices. So, we refocused our efforts to move everyone forward and get everyone on the new SkyBell Gen5 application which is built with new technologies and code in mind.
After weighing the pros and cons of this choice we decided that it's time to proactively have everyone migrate and experience the amazing features and enhancements in the new SkyBell (Gen5) App for both iOS and Android as we will be retiring official support of the SkyBell HD (Legacy) App on June 30th, 2024 and begin sunsetting the HD (Legacy) app as of March 3rd, 2025.
