Currently, the new SkyBell app uses the iPhone’s iOS default notification alerts instead of a special app only notification. We made the choice to streamline notification management by handing it over to the mobile device. This means all notifications can be managed in the device notification settings, instead of inside the SkyBell app.
Recently Apple updated their OS to iOS 17. One change made by Apple was the default tone went from “Tri-Tone” to "Rebound".
We have a change request in with the developers to re-write the notification protocol for the app and add back the classic Doorbell Chime sounds and the Motion Chime sounds. In the meantime, one option is to change the phone's default notification sound to something more noticeable than "Rebound" and this will help the notifications come through with a louder, more noticeable tone.
To change the default notification sound on an iPhone with iOS 17.2 or later iOS, you can do the following: - Open Settings - Tap Sound & Haptics - Tap Default Alerts - Select a new sound option |
This feature allows you to choose the default sounds for SkyBell.
Please note, any apps that also use the Default sound on an iPhone will also benefit from the change to a new sound. So, you should also start to hear notifications from other apps too.
Changing the default sound will not affect the sounds for texts, email, or calendars, as they have their own customization options.
