Please read and review the agreements posted in the SkyBell app before continuing. This process will migrate your SkyBell devices off of the SkyBell HD platform and add them to the SkyBell Gen5 platform. This process is not reversible. |
Before we start, write down your SkyBell HD username and password. If you do not know your SkyBell HD password, reset it now, and write it down. You will need this to continue.
DO NOT REMOVE THE SKYBELL FROM THE SKYBELL HD (LEGACY) APP.
We recommend downloading and saving any videos from your SkyBell HD App that you wish to keep before you start this process. Click here to read how to save videos (SkyBell HD).
Migration Process
- Log in to the SkyBell Gen5 App with your SkyBell HD credentials.
- Once logged in select the Account (person icon) at the bottom of the page.
- Scroll down and tap on the option that says, "Migrate from SkyBell HD".
- PLEASE READ THE DISCLOSURE
- If you select "NO THANKS" the app will bring you back to the Account Tab.
- If you select, "LET'S GO!" It will proceed to the next step.
- Follow the next steps.
- The app will display the username for your SkyBell HD app, it should match the username you used for the Gen5 App. If not, you will need to log out and start over.
- Enter the password you use for the SkyBell HD app.
- Once logged in, the SkyBell Gen5 app will verify what devices, by name, to bring over to the new system.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE - Please note that the Gen5 app will see ALL SkyBell's on your account and will want to move all of them over to the new system. If you do not want to do this at this time, stop here.
- To finish the migration, on the SkyBell Gen5 app, tap on, OK! UPGRADE 'device name'
- Follow the screens as they walk you through the process.
- The App will start to upgrade the device firmware and connect it to the new SkyBell Gen5 Backend system.
- The process should take between 5 and 10 minutes, however it can sometimes take about 30 minutes dependent on the end users home network.
- What will happen now is the SkyBell will be moved off of the HD Platform (Server, Firmware, and App).
- The SkyBell LED's may flash BLUE and YELLOW during the update.
- What will happen now is the SkyBell will be moved off of the HD Platform (Server, Firmware, and App).
- Once updated the SkyBell will restart and re-connect to your network.
- If successful, you will see the device show up on the New Gen5 app My Devices Screen.
- If unsuccessful, the device will not show up on the new Gen5 app.
- You will need to attempt the migration again.
- If unsuccessful, the device will not show up on the new Gen5 app.
