These Instructions are for the Gen5 SkyBell App only.
If you have not done so, install the App from the Google Play Store. If you are migrating over from the SkyBell HD app, we suggest using the same username and password that you currently use for the SkyBell HD App. |
Helpful Tips:
- Please stand near the SkyBell during the syncing process.Please make sure to start the syncing process while connected to your home network (not the SkyBell network), as you need internet access for the first few steps.
- Be sure you know your WiFi Password, have it ready you will need it later.
- Ensure the SkyBell is flashing RED / GREEN; If not, please factory reset the device by pressing your SkyBell button in and hold it until the LED's FLASH YELLOW.
- To follow along the LED will flash GREEN >>> flash BLUE >>> flash YELLOW.
- When the SkyBell LED's flash YELLOW, let go of the button and allow the SkyBell to power back on (SOLID YELLOW). After a few moments the device will start flashing RED / GREEN
Follow these simple steps to sign into the SkyBell Gen 5 app
and connect your SkyBell device to your SkyBell account.
Step 1 (Sign In)
- Open the SkyBell app from your smart device home screen.
- Tap the Sign in button.
Step 2 (Sign In)
- Enter your SkyBell account email address.
- Enter your SkyBell account password.
- Tap the Sign in button.
Step 3 (Add New SkyBell)
If there is no SkyBell device attached to your account (which is the case, if you have just created your SkyBell account), you will see the following:
- Stay up-to-date. Would you like to be notified when someone arrives at your door?
- "YES, PLEASE"
- "Not right now"
- You don’t have any devices yet. Would you like to add one now?
- ‘Add a Device’ or press the (+) icon on the top right
If you do not see the Add a SkyBell screen, do the following:
- Tap the Account button.
- Under the MY DEVICES section, tap the + Add New SkyBell button.
- This will take you to the correct screen.
- Under the MY DEVICES section, tap the + Add New SkyBell button.
- Tap the BEGIN button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4 (Enter Sync Mode)
Put the SkyBell device into Sync Mode. The SkyBell device is in Sync Mode when the LED is blinking RED / GREEN.
- If your SkyBell device is already in Sync Mode (LED blinking RED / GREEN), tap the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.
- If not, press & hold the SkyBell device's button until the LED slowly blinks GREEN.
- Once the LED blinks GREEN, let go and wait until the device starts to blink GREEN / RED.
- The device will be in Sync Mode for the next 5 minutes.
- Return to the SkyBell App, tap the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.
- Once the LED blinks GREEN, let go and wait until the device starts to blink GREEN / RED.
Step 5 (Connect to SkyBell)
In Sync Mode the SkyBell device creates a temporary ad-hoc WiFi network. The SkyBell app automatically connects to this WiFi network to configure the SkyBell device.
You can also manually connect to the SkyBell device's WiFi network by following these simple steps:

Step 6 (Connect to the Web)
- Select your home network name.
- Tap the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 7 (Connect to the Web)
- Enter your home network password.
- TIP: Tap on the eye-ball icon to see what you are typing in to prevent typos.
- Tap the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 8 (Configuring)
- The app and SkyBell will begin to flash ORANGE.
- Once the WiFi password is accepted, the app and SkyBell begin to flash BLUE / GREEN as the SkyBell is connected to the server.
- Finally, the SkyBell and app will show SOLID GREEN.
- Success: Your SkyBell is ready to use!
- Tap the Done button at the bottom of the screen.
NOTE: If the WiFi Password is not correct, or the Ports needed are blocked on the Router, the SkyBell LED's will flash ORANGE for a moment, then BLUE/GREEN for a moment and finally revert back to GREEN/RED. This indicates that you will need to attempt the sync process again. |
Step 9 (Complete)
You will be returned to the My Devices page within the app and your SkyBell is ready to use.
